E. polymena L. (12 d). Wings with large, dull orange, somewhat translucent spots. Collar, segments 1.
4 and 5 dark blood-red, segments 2, 3, 6 and 7 steel-blue, segments 1 to 3 silvery at the sides. Frons and 2 dots on the shoulders with intense silvery lustre. Throughout India proper, as far as Ceylon and the Andamans, eastward to Burma.*) —- ab. laura Btlr. (12 d) has also the 6th segment blood-red instead of steel-blue, and on the forewing the orange basal spot is either absent or only indicated by a faint dot.
